Welcome to the HL7 Colombia FHIR Terminology Guide

Welcome to the HL7 Colombia FHIR Terminology Guide! This resource is a collaborative effort led by HL7 Colombia to develop an initial set of national terminologies to facilitate semantic interoperability in the country’s health sector. The guide includes a complete repertoire of 35 CodeSystems and 40 ValueSets, designed to standardize and enrich the semantic content of clinical and administrative data.

Importance of National Terminologies

The use of standardized terminologies adapted to the Colombian context is fundamental to guarantee the interoperability of health information. These terminologies allow the uniform representation of concepts such as diagnoses, procedures, identities, locations, roles and much more, ensuring that data are understandable and usable between different systems.

The sets included in this guide, such as CodeSystem-CIUO-88-AC, CodeSystem-CUPS, CodeSystem-ICD-10-CO, and CodeSystem-DIVIPOLA, represent a key pillar to achieve semantic integration in technological applications in the country, in addition to aligning with international standards.
